“In My Time”
This is an on-going work started in 1981 and is now in its 30th year of practice. It is an exploration of what is referred to as Street Photography. The portfolio to date consists of images taken in cities across Canada, parts of the USA, throughout England, parts of Europe and Uganda, Africa.
I enjoy people; I enjoy looking at, talking with and observing their social habits and lifestyles. Growing up in Montreal and then living in Vancouver, two cities over a thousand miles apart, my original purpose was to photograph the people living there, observing and photographing the differences between the east and west coast lifestyles.
Upon my return to England in the mid nineteen-eighties, I continued with this genre of photography, including various excursions into Europe and Africa. I soon discovered that regardless of the colour of our skin, the language we speak or the clothes we wear, we are all the same social species, living, loving and crying in exactly the same way.
I now look upon this body of work as a celebration of humankind and will continue to record our social behaviour for as long as I am able.
In June, 2011 this portfolio had been collated and is now available in a black and white photo book titled, “In My Time - A 30 Year Retrospective Document of Street Photography”, available to purchase here:
